Mahomet ESDA encourages all residents to have a working NOAA Weather Radio to receive notifications of severe weather. The sirens are meant to be heard outdoors only, and may not be heard inside your house depending on weather conditions and/or your distance from the nearest siren.   

Siren tests will not be held if there is the threat of severe weather on the day of the test.

In the event that a siren test is cancelled due to the threat of severe weather, the sirens will be tested on the first Tuesday of the next month.

During this test, volunteers also test the Mahomet Emergency Alert System system which sends a message over Mediacom Cable Television.
